Innsbruck: Zaha Hadid's 4 Stations //

Hungerburg Station 1. In 2017, the 4 rail stations of the Hungerburgbahn were built. They lead from the city of Innsbruck to the village of Hungerburg in the nearby mountains, and were designed by the world-recognised architect, the late Zaha Hadid. From the starting point at Congress Station by the banks of the river Inns, the funicular railway travels, crossing the river, to Lowenhaus Station before climbing sharply to Alpenzoo Station and then more acutely before reaching the final and major station of Hungerburg. As the architect said, " The most important thing is motion, the flow of things, a non-Euclidean geometry in which nothing repeats itself: a new order of space." These images seek to provide a sense of the 4 unique individual structures, providing the proof that her ambition was achieved.

Alpenzoo Station 1: a fractured yellow line and the funicular with a single passenger.

Congress Station 4: a stream of yellow lights
Hungerburg Station 4: Slithers of white light cut through the amoeboid shapes forming the walls and roof of the station.
Alpenzoo Station 2: the penultimate station is on the mountain side and a lift is available to ascend the 7 floors to the platform. The concrete and glass cast light and shadows in the sunlight.
